We are told in that “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth” (Genesis 1:1). Next we read that there was chaos and disorder. The rest of the story continues to tell us how God brought order into the universe: “And God said...” God spoke his word and there was light. The light of God’s word is still bringing order out of chaos – even to this very day. The world is starving for the word of God and the result is chaos. A kind of “un-creation” or “de-creation” is taking place.

The world is unraveling and going backwards. The world stammers and staggers in search of a way to remedy the chaos, but looks everywhere and to anyone except to God and his word. Those who give their lives to Jesus Christ become born again (John 3:3). “If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come” (2 Corinthians 5:17).

Then God calls his people to become disciples of his word. God will speak order and healing into the lives of those who make the commitment to become disciples (learners) of his word.
