Why pray? If God is all-powerful why does he need people to pray? God does not need us to pray as much as we NEED to pray. God’s first words to the first sinners were, “Where are you?” He never had to ask that question before. Of course God knew where they were, but the question served notice that sin had caused separation.
Since that time God has condescended to use human beings to bridge the gap that still exists because of the Fall. God said to his people, “You will be for me a kingdom of priests...” (Exodus 19:6). Prayer is an outworking of God’s plan of redemption. We hold the awesome responsibility to live up to our calling as priests.
Why pray? If God is all-powerful why does he need people to pray? Yes, God is all-powerful. Think of the power that lies behind our simple, humble, weak prayers. The power that created the universe is as close to us as a silent prayer or a quiet moment on our knees. There is so much power that it defies the imagination.
Why pray? If God is all-powerful why does he need people to pray? God has invested his power in us. In his wisdom he has planted a praying people on this earth through his Son, Jesus Christ. God allows us to have a share of the responsibility to bring his redemptive power to bear in our world. Why pray? Why NOT pray? Listen to this message and you will have the answer.
