We began the year 2008 with a renewed vision of centering ourselves on the Word of God. We saw how God’s Word carries the very authority of God. No better way to reach the heart of all that God has for his people than the book of Psalms. The first psalm stands at the very door of all that it means to be a follower of God. This psalm is the heart of worship. And the heart of worship is enjoying a living, vibrant relationship with God.

Part of the vision for Lake Murray Church is in keeping with developing a love for the law of the LORD of Psalm One. A way to show a growing sensitivity and care for the law of the LORD is the simple act of bringing a Bible to church. Not just any Bible, but YOUR Bible. Your Bible is a mirror that reflects a great part of the center of your relationship with the Lord. Your Bible has your mark on it. It carries the scars of the many years of your faith pilgrimage as you have wrestled with its pages. If your Bible is absent those scars, bring it to church and together we will help you wear out its pages. What a joyful and God-blessed activity!

The vision for Lake Murray Church sees its members having their Bibles open in their laps drinking from the well of God’s wisdom on any given Sunday morning. The sound of turning pages can be heard as we scurry through the layers of wisdom and nurture given to us under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. We all grow together building a strong fortress of God’s love through his Word. Notice the practical wisdom hidden in this vision:

We will take in the Word through our ears as we hear the message, through our eyes as we see the message and through the energy of our fingers as we brush across the pages. There will also be an invisible, holy capacity aroused as God himself addresses our wills through our obedience to his calling. We will set a godly example for our children. Distractions will vanish. Lives will be changed. Purpose will be sharpened. Visitors will enter into worship with us and leave with the idea indelibly lodged in their minds that we are a people dedicated to God’s Word.
